In continued recognition of Migraine and Headache Awareness Month, today we are highlighting Pediatric headaches.  Headaches in children are actually common, and usually not serious.  Children can develop all of the different kinds of headaches that adults do.  You should pay attention to your child’s headache symptoms and consult a doctor if the headache worsens, or if they occur frequently.  The headaches can usually be treated with OTC (over-the-counter) pain medications and proper habits such as a regular schedule for sleeping and eating.

If you notice frequent headaches, keep a headache diary for your child.  Note when the headaches start, how long they last, and if anything provides relief.  This can help your doctor make a proper diagnosis.  Additionally, if there are measures you took that relieved the headache consistently, you can implement those actions immediately to provide faster relief for your child.
