May 19 is Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)

GAAD Global Accessibility Awareness Day Logo Creating Awareness for Website Accessibility for People with Disabilities Communitas logo

Communitas is a nonprofit that provides Direct Support Professional assistance in Poulsbo, Silverdale, Bremerton, and Port Orchard for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Every user deserves a first-rate digital experience on the web. Someone with a disability must be able to experience web-based services, content and other digital products with the same successful outcome as those without disabilities. This awareness and commitment to inclusion is the goal of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), a global event that shines a light on digital access and inclusion for people with disabilities.

Communitas will be utilizing tools outlined by GAAD to help increase the accessibility of its own webpages for those with disabilities. We have already updated photos on our main page to have appropriate descriptions of the photos, and changed our buttons to be higher-contrast between the background color and font color.
