Did you know that February 14 is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day? It is an annual campaign to honor and remember everyone born with a heart defect and all of the families and friends touched by children with heart defects. In addition, the medical professionals who care for those born with heart defects are recognized on this day, as are the experts who are involved in conducting research for treating and preventing heart defects.
CHDs affect 8 out of every 1,000 newborns. Every year more than 35,000 babies in the USA are born with congenital heart defects.
