Autism Spectrum Disorder and Headaches
Communitas is a nonprofit that provides Direct Support Professional assistance in Poulsbo, Silverdale, Bremerton, and Port Orchard for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
In continued recognition of Migraine and Headache Awareness Month, today we are highlighting people with ADS (autism-spectrum disorder) and headaches. One of the less common symptoms of ASD is headaches. This could be due to pain insensitivity. However there are links between migraines and ASD. People with sensory hyperactivity are more likely to experience migraines. Also those with higher levels of anxiety can have more migraines or cluster headaches.
